Rest In Peace: Kurt Hayashi

On January 26, 2020, our dear friend Kurt Hayashi passed away. He was a lifelong skateboarder, a husband and father and an incredibly accomplished skateboard filmer. If you want to check his credits, just look up any major video put out between the late-90s and the 2010s, and he’s got footage in it. But the reason why you’re reading about him here is because Kurt was one of the earliest supporters of Nike SB. When we were just starting, he was down. There was no hesitation, no wondering what his peers at other brands would say. He understood what we were about and jumped in the van. Kurt documented a lot of our early tours and edited our first promo video “On Tap.” But well beyond that, he was always there for us, wherever, whenever. He was there for work and he was there when we needed someone to bounce ideas off of. And of course, he was there when we needed to grab a skate session. We could ALWAYS count on him. Kurt was a colleague and a friend, but he was also 100% Nike SB family. We love you Kurt. Rest in peace. - Kevin Imamura
