Stefan Janoski: For Daily Use

06.13.19

10 years ago Stefan Janoski proved that keeping things simple requires skill and conviction. In pursuit of the perfect skate shoe, his ardent approach to the design process turned his first signature Nike SB into an instant icon. The Nike Zoom Stefan Janoski was counter to the bulkier, tech-driven sneakers. Working with James Arizumi, Stefan was insistent on his vision of a low, lean, vulcanized model bolstered by Nike’s quality and design prowess. The directional pivot was a tough sell but having invested in Stefan’s ethos, it was agreed that chunky was clunky and the “For Daily Use” concept was born. The simple, purposeful silhouette tapped into a zeitgeist, immediately resonating with skateboarders and quickly becoming a pop culture mainstay. With its stand out lines, the Janoski evolved into an entire franchise with 11 models and 1,530 versions to date.
