Skateboarding and punk rock—a decades old match made in heaven, and the driving principles behind Japanese artist Verdy’s Wasted Youth label, as well as the inspiration for the WY x Nike SB Dunk. Denim, leather, metallic rings, red roses and jagged stitching all help drive the DIY spirit home.
With Wasted Youth logos embroidered on the heels and tongue label, along with the words “No Thank You I Don’t Need Your Support” and “Don’t bother me anymore” printed into the footbed, Verdy’s artistic input is all over the shoe.
While a video, lead by Verdy, takes us through a prism of brand defining visuals, the photography follows Ishod Wair while he wears and tests.
After the success of his Girls Don’t Cry Dunk, we tapped Japanese artist Verdy for a second collaboration with his skateboarding and punk rock inspired Wasted Youth label.
